PERSONNEL TESTING
The purpose is to help you evaluate your training current fitness and predict future performance including planning training. If done correctly you can establish if your training is helping you improve.
How to test yourself?
1. Gives you an indictor of improvement and strength.
2. Feedback on any weakness.
3. Good motivation.
THE TEST
To test yourself the following need to be considered to compare between each test.
1. Emotional state.
2. Time of day.
3. Temperature
4. Humidity
5. Time from last meal.
6. Medication
7. Similar recovery before each test
8. Similar sleep in the 3 days before.
9. Same warm up for each test.
10. Accurate distance and time.
11. Surface
12. Tyre pressure the same (if cycling)
13. Heart rate. As you get fitter expect your average heart rate to drop for the same intensity.
14. Swimming - Water temperature can effect your performance because colder water is traditionally slower
