Exciting new Long Distance event ideal for anyone stepping up to full distance or in search of a new challenge. Sheltered Open Water Swim in the River Blackwater. Cycle around the quiet and scenic roads of the Dengie Peninsula. Inspirational Lapped Run around the sea wall and marshes passing the historic St Peters Chapel. The Bradwell Waterside Long Distance Triathlon is sure to become an instant classic!

2.8km Swim
Deep water start in the tidal River Blackwater. Course is sheltered and provides good viewing opportunities for spectators on the sea wall and run to transition. Athletes will start at 6:15am and complete 3 loops of the course. Water safety marshals will be present with motorised boats & canoes. If you want to raise the attention of the marshals turn on your back and raise one arm in the air. Please note this is a tidal river and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are compulsory. Swim cut-off strictly 7:45am.

Cycle 122km
The cycle course takes athletes away from Bradwell Waterside and onto the quiet scenic roads of the Dengie Peninsula. Here you will pass through small towns and villages with traditional weatherboard homes, negotiate the Burnham Bends and experience a fast and flat course over the marshes. Athletes will complete 3 laps of the course.

Run 30km
The run is held over a fantastic course. Athletes will run past the old airfield and RAF memorial before heading towards the coast. St Peters Chapel will become visible as you retrace the steps of religious pilgrims from as far back as 654AD. The course then follows the sea wall, popular with walkers, before passing the decommissioned nuclear power station and returning to Bradwell. Surface is a mixture of paved roads, trail and gravel track. Athletes need to complete 3 laps if they are to make it to the finish line. Please remember to always listen to marshals instructions... they have given up their time to help you!
