Chrissie Wellington Competes In Race To Top Of Empire State Building

9th February 2012.

Chrissie Wellington 4 x World Ironman Champion took on the tower challenge by running up the Empire State building in New York involving 1576 steps and 86 flights to the observation floor in an impressive time of 13 minutes & 15 seconds
Melissa Moon from New Zealand was first female in 12 minutes & 39 seconds & once again defended her title.

Men's winner was Thomas Dold from Germany in 10:28 juts 12 seconds ahead of fellow German. He has won this event 7 consecutive times.

The event raised more than £300,000 for Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

More than 660 competed in this event.

Our own 220 contributor IronMate Mark Kleanthous has the 3rd fastest time ever up London’s Telecom Tower raising £1,500 for comic relief.

Mark said it’s the hardest thing he ever did and took 4 minutes 54 seconds just 3 seconds behind the Guinness book of records for the 870 steps and 650 feet.
