Bursitis

a sudden increase accumaltion of fatigue over use and more often sudden increases in distance or extreme ultra distance races leads to Bursitis/

The Bursa is a fluid filled sac to prevent friction.
Swelling during an ultra distance event or immediately after is at least 8 out of 10 of the pain threshold (10 being is agony).

To reduce friction between the tissues the “Bursa” is next to tendons and large joints.

When the Bursa becomes inflamed it is called Bursitis. This type of injury occurs from over use but some times from infection.
Rest and treatment (R.I.C.E and massage) will speed up the healing process.

Bursitis is also common with people suffering from Arthritis Diabetes and Thyroid disease.

Bursitis can also be caused by soft tissue injury or trauma.
