Changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace.
After watching changing of the guards you can walk through colourful St James Park then back into the Mall under Admiralty Arch to Trafalgar’s square and Nelson column turn right into Whitehall the Prime Minister lives at 10 Downing Street on the right hand side then the Cenotaph (monument in honor of the soldiers who lost their lives in the war) is in the middle of the road.
Continue along Whitehall towards Westminster and Big Ben.
You can walk across Westminster Bridge & the River Thames, stop half way and look up and down stream. To your left and see the London Eye County Hall the many bridges and St Paul’s cathedral dome in the distance.
You will see many naval boats moored in the river.
This walk can take up to 2 hours if you stop frequently and take many pictures and admire the view.
Famous London streets for spending money and window shopping include Oxford Street Bond Street and Regent Street.

Baker Street -Sherlock Holmes house famous detective 221b Baker St visit the house the way it looked.
Bond Street -famous brands like Cartier Gucci & Versace Asprey the queen’s jewelry & Horatio Nelson lived at 147 New Bond Street.
Carnaby Street started fashion and clothes of the 1960’s.
Downing Street -the home to the Prime Minister & when I was a child you could stand opposite number 10.
Harley Street Britain’s most famous professional medical street.
Jermyn Street – A favorite street of mine restaurants and shoe and shirt & makers and Fortnum & Masons department store.
Kings Road every type of modern shop from shoes to hats to hand made chocolate.
The Mall – The Queen & other royals travels along the mall during special occasions including weddings.
Old Compton Street – a place for the gay community to meet, I once had my bottom pinched while going to work.
Oxford Street probably Europe’s busiest shopping streets with some of the best shops in London (from Marble Arch station to Holborn station)
You can spend 3 hours in many of the shops (Selfridges, John Lewis& HMV and not see everything.
The Christmas lights are great to see lite up during the festive seasons along this famous London Street.
Portobello Road – famous for second hand junk and antiques you will be surprised what they sell and shocked at what they try and sell it for.
In 1870 horses were sold since then it’s grown to over 1,400 traders depending on the day.
Regent Street – Exclusive brand name shops including my favorite as a child
Hamleys www.hamleys.com they sell almost anything a child could want.
Saville Row – Has been making hand made to measure suits and shirts since 1786, when I win the lottery I will have a suit for every day of the week.
Shaftesbury Avenue – London West End theatre district.
Strand – famous for the Savoy Hotel, Simpsons for afternoon Tea, Somerset House an old English pub & the Royal Courts of Justice.
Threadneedle Street – The Bank of England.
Victoria Embankment – Famous for Cleopatra’s needle monument close to Hungerford Bridge. A gift from Egypt to the UK several seaman lost their lives transporting it, their names are on a plaque.
Whitehall – Number 10 Downing Street - The Cenotaph in memory of those who gave their lives in since 1918- The Foreign Office -
